Dr Atef Elshabrawy has more than 25 years of experience in innovation, finance and entrepreneurship development, during which he occupied top positions in academia, governmental, private sector, and international organizations. He was CEO-founder of Family Bank-Bahrain, advisor to the Bahrain Ministry of Development, General Manager at Bahrain Development Bank, Manager at the Egyptian Social Fund for Development, Advisor to Centennial Fund-KSA, Global-Expert-MENA region at ICSB.
He participated in the elaboration of several national strategies like: Bahrain Economic vision 2030, Knowledge Economy KPIs, Sustainable Development Goal’s-UNDP, National Innovation System, SME’s GCC Strategy. Served as head of Research project MINBAR – MENAPAR Multi-Stakeholder Engagement in Public Innovation, designed the Bahrain Public Sector Innovation Sandbox for Bahrain Institute of Public Administration (BIPA), five-years strategic planning for the Université de Senghor, strategic planning for African universities for the AUF (Agence Universitaire Francophone), etc.
Dr Atef enjoys a multidisciplinary educational background in crossing sectors (engineering, management and finance), got his Ph.D from L’institut National Polytechnique de Lorraine (INPL), France, a D.E.A from Ecole des Mines de Nancy, France and a BSc. from Cairo University – Egypt, added to several diplomas & certificates in finance, innovation and strategic management from France, UK, USA, China, IFC-World Bank, etc.
Dr Atef was awarded by several prizes like: prize of Mohammed Bin Rashid Award for “Young Leaders” in 2013, “Young Researchers” in France 1995, International Research Award from Bahraini Ministry of Interior 2011, and Social Innovation Leadership Awards, Top 50 Most Impactful Social Innovators, from India 2017.
Dr Atef is TUV certified innovation instructor, provided training to top-executives in banks, ministries, international organizations, public sectors, private institutions, family foundations; NGO’s throughout in MENA region, Africa and Asia.
